Tips to Keep Fit While Travelling

As someone who has spent years of his life travelling and discovering new places, I get a few set of questions recurrently. One of them being – how do you manage to stay fit while travelling?

There are other bloggers, vloggers and travellers that I have come across in my travels who struggle with the same issue. But the answer is quite simple. If you wish to maintain good health and not slack off just because you’re on a trip then you need make a few lifestyle changes.

You have to train your mind, body and outlook to adjust to your changing environments so you are mentally prepared for anything.

Here are a few tips from my end which will hopefully help you meet your fitness goals while travelling, effectively.

1. Get you Breakfast right – The first meal of the day is the most important meal of the day. I’m sure you’ve heard this saying more than once. If you’re travelling then you’re probably putting up at a hotel. Most hotels offer complimentary breakfast so make sure to let them know what you prefer. If you’re going to be on the road for the entire day then make sure to add fruits to your breakfast. They’re easy to digest and will give you loads of energy for your day ahead.

2. Drink water, lots of it – While travelling your body is put into a low intensity aerobic mode. The constant running around will definitely signal your body to use more water and you’ll end up sweating all lot of it out. In order to stay hydrated make sure you get more than just your minimum requirement in. Keeping hydrated will make sure your body has the strength to cope with all the changes and challenges your body is going through.

3. Make everything “work-out” for you – Yup, you read that right. Make all your physical activities just a tad bit more difficult for yourself so your body can get the workout it needs if you are unable to set aside time for exercise. Take the starts instead of the elevator, walk to your bodega if it’s around a mile or so away, lift your own bags, etc… If not, you could look up online yoga classes that are just 20 to 30 minutes long, if you have the time.

Keeping yourself fit, no matter where you are or what your lifestyle is, keeping fit isn’t a matter of time but choice. CHOOSE to keep yourself fit and you will always find a way to do so.
